Sam Chamberlain MA MB/BChir PhD - personal statement

I am a researcher based at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge UK and at the National Treatment Service for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) (England and Wales) UK. I am also a doctor currently working at the West Suffolk Hospital in the UK.

My research uses cognitive and neuroimaging techniques to explore how drugs exert their effects over psychiatric symptoms and behaviour. This includes identifying biomarkers that can be used to characterise the likely efficacy of novel therapeutic compounds. I am also interested in identifying objective 'vulnerability markers' for psychiatric symptoms - in other words, identifying subtle changes in the brain that predispose towards repetitive behaviours, such as those manifested in OCD, Trichotillomania (repetitive hair-pulling), and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

I am available for consulting work, and specialise in clinical trials design, analysis of data (clinical and cognitive), and Clinical Trial Report (CTR) writing. Previous clients include Cambridge Cognition, Shire, and P1Vital. For further information please contact me.
